Anderson Awarded Rompala Scholarship
Jared Anderson, a student in the AuD program who is starting his 4th-year full-time audiology externship in priviate practice this summer, has been awarded the Nichole Ann Rompala Scholarship in May 2017. This scholarship, which provides $1,500 and is associated with the Sertoma Speech and Hearing Centers, is awarded to SLP or AuD graduate student applicants who are enrolled in accredited programs (ASHA Council on Academic Accreditation). Applicants must maintain a GPA of 3.2 (out of 4) and show experience and interest in providing services to communicatively impaired or multiply handicapped populations. Applicants are selected based upon volunteer, interscholastic, and extracurricular activities.
Jared has been involved in a broad range of activities that have extended his AuD training experiences to include a humanitarian service trip and many other projects on campus, off campus, in the US, and abroad. Jared’s research involves comparing interaural level differences and interaural time differences between normal hearing listeners and patients with bilateral cochlear implants. Following graduation in May 2018, Jared has a career interest in establishing a private practice.
